Most web developers refuse to publish a price. The refusal is understandable, because the honest answer really does depend on what you need. But it leaves every small business owner in Chennai making the same call twenty times to find out they cannot afford any of it.
So here is a number: websites at UgeWorks start at ₹5,000. A number without a scope is marketing, so this page is the scope.
What ₹5,000 covers
- Up to five pages. Typically home, about, services, gallery and contact. Written and laid out around what your business actually does.
- Built for a phone first. Most of your visitors in Chennai arrive on a phone on mobile data. The site is designed for that screen and then adapted upward, not the other way round.
- Fast. Google treats 2.5 seconds as the threshold for a good Largest Contentful Paint, the moment the main content appears. Sites I build are made to sit under it.
- A contact route that reaches you. A WhatsApp button and a form that emails you, because an enquiry nobody sees is not an enquiry.
- The basics for being found. Page titles, descriptions, a sitemap, and the structured data that tells Google you are a real business in a real place.
- Your content, placed properly. You send text and photos; I write them into the pages.
- Hosted and live. Deployed on AWS, with HTTPS, on infrastructure whose free tier covers a small business site comfortably.
What ₹5,000 does not cover
Saying this plainly is the point of the page.
| Not included | Why |
|---|---|
| Selling online | A cart, payment gateway, orders and stock is software, not pages |
| Customer logins | Accounts, passwords and data protection are a different build |
| A mobile app | iOS and Android are separate work with their own store processes |
| Photography or video | If you need a shoot, that is a photographer's job |
| Writing your copy from scratch | I place and tidy your words; writing a brand's voice is its own craft |
| Ongoing changes | Monthly edits are a maintenance arrangement, quoted separately |
What you pay for separately, and why that is in your favour
Your domain is bought in your own name, on your own registrar account, by you. It costs a few hundred rupees a year and it is the single most important thing you own. I will not hold it for you, because vendors who hold domains are how businesses get held hostage.
Beyond a small site's traffic, hosting eventually costs something. For most businesses at this size it stays inside the free tier for a long time, and when it stops being free you will know why.
When ₹5,000 is the wrong answer
If any of these describe you, a five-page site will not solve your problem, and buying one is wasted money:
- You want to sell products online and take payments.
- Customers need to log in and see something private.
- You need a booking system that manages availability.
- You have forty services that each deserve their own page.
- What you actually need is an app, not a website.
In those cases the honest quote is higher, and I would rather tell you before you pay than after. The website cost guide explains what moves the number.
How to get the most out of it
- Have your content ready. The single biggest delay is waiting for text and photos. If they are ready, the build moves fast.
- Decide your five pages before you start. Changing the structure halfway is what turns a small project into a slow one.
- Know the one thing the site must do. Get phone calls? Fill a class? Show a menu? A site aimed at one outcome beats a site that lists everything.
What happens when you message
You tell me what the business does and what you want the site to achieve. I send back a fixed price and a timeline, in writing, within a day. If your project is bigger than ₹5,000, I will say so and tell you what it would actually be. If a website is not the right spend for you right now, I will tell you that too — there is a whole guide on whether you need one at all when you already have Instagram and WhatsApp.
No obligation, no sales call, no retainer to find out the price.
Questions people ask
Is ₹5,000 really the full price for a website?
It is the starting price for a small custom business site of up to five pages with your content, hosted and live. Online selling, logins, booking systems and apps cost more, and the quote says so before you pay anything.
Is a ₹5,000 website just a template?
No. It is built in React and laid out around your business rather than dropped into a theme. What keeps the price low is the small page count and the fact that you deal directly with the engineer, with no agency margin on top.
Does ₹5,000 include the domain name?
No, and deliberately. You buy the domain yourself, in your own name, so you own it outright. It costs a few hundred rupees a year at any Indian registrar.
What does it cost to keep the site running afterwards?
For a small business site, hosting usually stays within the AWS free tier, so the recurring cost is often just the domain renewal. Ongoing content changes are a separate maintenance arrangement.
How long does a ₹5,000 website take?
Usually about a week once your text and photos are ready. Content being late is the most common reason a small site takes longer.
