Taking on maintenance clients

Website maintenance
and support, Chennai.

Most small business websites are fine on launch day and quietly rot afterwards: an expired certificate, a plugin that breaks the contact form, a page that takes nine seconds on a phone, a domain nobody renewed. UgeWorks keeps sites working, whether we built them or not, on a monthly plan or simply per task when something needs doing.

What maintenance actually is

The jobs nobody does until something breaks

A maintenance plan is not a vague retainer. These are the specific tasks, and you should expect any vendor to list them as plainly.

Software and plugin updates On WordPress, the core, theme and plugins need updating regularly or the site becomes the easiest target on the street. On a custom-coded site there are no plugins, so this shrinks to dependency updates a couple of times a year.
Backups you can actually restore A backup nobody has ever restored is a hope, not a backup. Scheduled backups, kept off the server, and a restore tested so we know it works before the day we need it.
Uptime monitoring You should not learn your site is down from a customer. Monitoring checks it every few minutes and alerts us, not just you.
SSL, domain and hosting renewals Certificates from Let’s Encrypt and AWS are free and auto-renew when set up properly; domains are not, and a lapsed domain is the one failure that is genuinely hard to undo. We watch the dates.
Content updates and small changes New prices, a new service, a staff photo, a festival banner, a changed phone number. Sent on WhatsApp, done the same working day where it is small.
Speed and mobile checks Pages get slower as images and scripts accumulate. Quarterly checks against Google’s own thresholds, with the fixes done rather than reported.
Security watch Reviewing who has access, keeping admin accounts to the people who need them, and acting on anything Google Search Console flags.

Who this is for

Three situations we are usually called for

The developer has gone quiet

The person who built the site has stopped replying, or has moved on. We take over the site as it is, document what is there, and keep it running. No rebuild required unless you want one.

A WordPress site nobody updates

Plugins two years out of date, an admin login everyone shares, no backups. We bring it up to date carefully, set up backups and monitoring, and then keep it that way.

You have a site and no time

The business is busy, the site is fine, and nobody wants to think about it. That is exactly what a small monthly plan is for.

Honest answers

What a maintenance plan should not be

Not a hostage arrangement Your domain, hosting and source code stay registered in your name throughout. Cancel whenever you like and nothing of yours moves or stops working. If a current vendor holds any of these, moving them is part of what we do at the start.
Not an invoice for nothing Every month you get a short note of what was actually done: updates applied, backups verified, uptime, changes made. If a month was quiet, the note says so.
Not a rebuild in disguise If a site genuinely cannot be maintained safely, we will say so and quote a redesign separately rather than billing maintenance on something beyond saving.

How to start

From first message to covered

1

Send the website address

On WhatsApp. That is enough to begin.

2

A free review within 24 hours

What is out of date, what is at risk, what is slow, and what it would take to fix. Written, honest, and yours to keep even if you go elsewhere.

3

Pick monthly or per task

A monthly plan for peace of mind, or pay only when something needs doing. Fixed written price either way, no lock-in.

4

Handover and first pass

Access moved into your own accounts where it is not already, backups and monitoring switched on, and the first round of updates applied.

Questions

Frequently asked

How much does website maintenance cost in India?

It depends on what the site is built with and how often it changes. A static custom-coded site needs very little; a WordPress site with paid plugins needs monthly attention and carries licence renewals of its own. Send the website address and you get a free written review and a fixed price within 24 hours.

Will you maintain a site you did not build?

Yes, including WordPress sites. The first step is a review of what is there, what is out of date and what is at risk, so neither of us is guessing.

What is included in hosting and maintenance packages?

Software and plugin updates, backups with a tested restore, uptime monitoring, SSL and renewal watch, content updates and small changes, quarterly speed checks and a monthly note of what was done. Anything larger is quoted separately before it starts.

Do I pay for hosting separately?

Yes, and it should be that way. Hosting stays in your own account on your own card, so you are never locked in. We manage it for you; we do not resell it to you with a markup.

Is there a contract or lock-in?

No. Monthly, cancellable, and everything is already in your name so there is nothing to retrieve if you stop.

What if my site goes down at night?

Monitoring alerts us. For a plan client we start on it as soon as we see it, and you get a message saying what happened and what was done, rather than finding out from a customer.
