These are working timelines from projects UgeWorks has delivered, assuming one engineer, content that exists, and a client who answers within a day or two. Your project may differ; the reasons it will differ are in the last section, and they are the part worth reading.
By project type
A single landing page
One page: headline, offer, proof, a form or WhatsApp button. Two to five working days including design, build, domain, SSL and deployment. Most of the time goes on getting the copy right.
A small business website
Five to eight pages: home, about, services, a page per service, contact, maybe a gallery. Two to four weeks. Week one is design and structure; weeks two and three are build and content; the last stretch is review, fixes, analytics and launch.
An e-commerce store
Products, cart, checkout with Razorpay or another gateway, order emails, an admin view of orders, shipping rules. Four to eight weeks, and the range is wide because product data is the wildcard. Fifty products with photos and descriptions ready is one project; five hundred products in a spreadsheet with no images is another.
A custom web application
Logins, dashboards, workflows, integrations. There is no honest single number. A well-scoped first phase, the MVP, is typically six to twelve weeks; the full product is delivered in phases after real users have touched the first one.
A redesign of an existing site
Usually faster than a new build because the content and structure exist and the decisions have been made once already. Two to four weeks for a business site, longer if the redesign is also a migration off a CMS.
What each week is actually spent on
- Discovery and structure. What pages, what each must achieve, what the visitor should do next. One or two calls.
- Design. Layout and visual direction, reviewed on a phone first.
- Build. The code. Genuinely the most predictable part.
- Content. Copy, photos, product data. The least predictable part.
- Review and fixes. Your feedback, in rounds.
- Launch. Domain, SSL, hosting, analytics, Search Console, a final check of speed and mobile rendering.
The one thing that delays every project
Content and decisions. A site cannot launch with placeholder text, and a developer cannot write your services page for you without input. The projects that finish on time are the ones where the client has copy and images ready, or has agreed up front that the developer will draft copy for approval, and where feedback comes in days rather than weeks.
Three things that keep a timeline honest:
- One decision-maker on your side. Design by committee doubles review rounds.
- A content deadline agreed at the start, with what happens if it slips.
- Feedback in rounds, not a trickle. Collect everything, send once.
Can it be faster?
Yes, if the scope is small and the content is ready. A landing page can go live in two days. What cannot be compressed is review: if you need a week to look at a draft, the project needs that week.
What UgeWorks commits to
A fixed written scope and price within 24 hours of the requirement, a timeline in the same document, and a working preview link from the first week so review happens continuously rather than at the end. See how the web development process is set up.
Questions people ask
Can I get a website in one week?
A landing page or a very small site, yes, if the copy and images exist. A full business site in one week means skipping review, which tends to cost the second week anyway.
Why do agencies quote three months for a small site?
Usually because several projects share a team and yours is queued, or because the process has fixed review gates. Neither is wrong, but neither is the build itself taking three months.
Does an e-commerce site take longer because of payments?
Payment integration is a few days of build and testing. What makes stores take longer is product data: photos, descriptions, variants, prices and shipping rules for every item.
